Background & New Twist in the Chareidi Internet Ban

Rotter.net reported a while ago that Guy Cohen, the CEO of Bechadrei Chareidim, sued Rabbi M. M. Karp.

Rabbi Karp is a prominent Rav in Kiryat Sefer. Kiryat Sefer has its own internal fight regarding their mayor, Guterman.

Karp is a staunch defender of Guterman. When Bechadrei Chareidim continued to post negative stories on Guterman, he came up with a new idea.

Rabbi Karp collected a bunch of signatures from various Gedolim, banning the use of all Chareidi Internet websites.

Indeed, some closed down. Etrog and Haredim are the more prominent ones.

Now, Yeshiva World reports that the owner of Haredim as well, is threatening to sue Rabbi Karp.

Now this is quite significant.

The reason for this is because it is quite well known that the owner of Haredim is Yanky Bichler.

Bichler is a well known figure in the chareidi scene, running the popular Kol Chareidi hotline. If he has the guts to do this, it must be because he has some backing. He would never risk this otherwise.

I wonder who's backing he does have, if this is true.

(In this post, Rafi shows that this Bichler guy does some other shtick as well.)
