Don't People Get It That Banning Doesn't Work?

In a new ban issued by the same Rav that is behind the crusade against Chareidi Websites, he disallows reading all newspapers that don't have a "hechsher". This, presumably, should be on the shelf together with the "hechshered" music.

As far as I know, Hamodia & Yated, as well as HaMevaser, don't have hechsheirim. Banned.

It does seem like this is more of a local fight in one town (kiryat sefer). Indeed, it seems that the whole Internet fight was also the result of local politics in that town. This time, however, he doesn't seem to have the heavyweight behind him. Yet.

Famous question: In 2003 what was Saddam Hussein thinking? The Americans and a dozen other armies were massed on his borders. He had no allies. Why did he stand up to the US and lose everything when a strategic surrender would have left him in power?
Because when you're surrounded by yes-men who are afraid to tell you the truth because of the consequences, you lose touch with reality.
How many of these rabbonim ever talk to someone who doesn't have the exact same viewpoint as theirs? Of course the ban will work, they think. All the people who matter told me it will!

Yes, classic induced megalomaniac-ism. Its the reason why its nearly impossible for certain people to get close to Rav Elyashiv, and even then, there's always a chaperon. But the Rabbi here is more of an askan, who does know what's going on. (I wrote people, not Rabbi.)

That would be megalomania. I don't think megalomaniacism is a word.
