Chareidi UTJ Knesset member Moshe Gafni lashed out at his Shas counterparts, saying that "I'm ashamed to be Chareidi". In response, Shas said that they're cutting off contact with Gafni, actually using the language עפרא לפומיה.
I don't really understand what his issue is here. If Rav Ovadia Yosef has no issue with it, being their Gadol, how dare he trash them like this?
He has what to be ashamed of.
The truth, I think, is that he has no real issue with them; he's just saying this to satisfy his constituents. While giving the speech, he got more than a little excited. Still, its no excuse for the gross lack of derech eretz.
