Fifty thousand dollars in cash, plus hundreds of thousand of dollars in checks were stolen last night from the home of Rav Steinman on 5 Chazon Ish Street in Benei Brak.
Rav Steinman was at an Atzeres chizuk in Beitar and Jerusalem at that time.
There were no signed of a break-in at the home, leading to speculation that the thief had a key to the home.
The monthly stipend that is given out by Rav Steinman every Rosh Chodesh, that was supposed to be given out today, is temporarily suspended.
I have little doubt that this was done by shabbanikes, a growing problem in Bnei Brak and elsewhere.
